the House
We are a multiple system. If you don't know what that means, think of it like we're roommates, and we all share a costume. If you come over to hang out, we'll take turns wearing the costume, but it'll be different people underneath. We all share this same body-vessel and take turns interacting with the outside world with it.
We typically have 1-2 members at the front at a given time, with up to 7 people easily reachable to outsiders. Not everyone comes to the front.
Every plural is different, so we've written up some rules of engagement to specify our preferences. If some of the particulars are confusing, no worries. If you don't know, just ask who you're speaking to and treat them like a person, and everything'll be golden.
We've written our plurality manifesto to state our beliefs about respecting plural people more generally. It covers some talking points that people in plural communities tend to talk about.
If you're unfamiliar with plurality, here are a few places where you can learn more:
- More Than One carrd: a basic explanation of plurality targeted toward a non-plural audience
- Dragon's Roost plural links: extensive collection of resources by and for plurals, covering a wide variety of topics, by various authors
- LB Lee's Dreamwidth: a community historian's collection of writings about plurality, among other things
If you're new to your own plurality, here's a couple of guides we like:
- Advice from Those Who Came Before collected by Not Applicable
- How to Survive in a Strange World After Sliding into an Alternate Timeline by “S.M.” of the Watchtower System
- In-System Conflict Guide by mare cognitum
Check out our system member pages if you want to learn more about us as individuals. Not everyone has one yet, but stay tuned.
